The 2023 Lawrence Prize for literature will be awarded to Virginia Saba , writer, journalist, communication and international relations expert, author of the book “The sound of beauty. Notes on life and philosophy” (If Press). In her work Virginia Saba wanted to reconstruct her journey through time and space through historical periods and places, known and lesser known men and women, events, anecdotes, pains and joys to dedicate it to all those who they fail to grasp the nuances and beauty that life offers us.

A journey into our interiority that was particularly appreciated by the jury of the DH Lawrence International Travel Literature Festival which takes place every year in Mandas and is dedicated to the famous English writer who lived between the 1800s and 1900s and was also poet, essayist and painter. The Literature Prize will be awarded on Sunday 10 September, at 6.30 pm, in the former San Francesco convent.

The Festival offers various events linked to the encounter between culture and travel: Sunday 3 September, at 8.45 in the railway station "In viaggio, per narrarci better" with Daniela Carta and at 9 the departure of the Trenino Verde. At 6 pm Andrea Atzeni and Alessandro Garau present the book “Musica, Dimónios!: The story of the first Chief Music Officer of the Sassari Brigade”, followed by the assignment of the Lawrence Prize for journalism to Enrico Pilia of L'Unione Sarda. "From this year there will also be a special prize that will be delivered on the train to be assigned to a young writer who expresses the beauty of travel", says the mayor of Mandas, Umberto Oppus. The winner of the first edition of the award is Matteo Porru.
