Today the engineer Vinicio Perra , born in Mandas on June 20, 1919, by Virgilio Perra (mayor of the town of Alta Trexenta from 1946 to 1952) and Raimonda Manca, turns 103. The father was therefore the first mayor of the republican Mandas.

A life full of satisfactions for the grandfather, who graduated in Naples and then settled for work in Sassari where he married and still lives today.

"This is a historic day for the town - underlines the mayor Umberto Oppus -, the engineer Perra even though he has lived far from Mandas for some time is still a real historical memory of our community".

It was baptized by Calogero Lunetta and Dondina Bertucelli, the managers of Locanda Lunetta described by David Herbert Lawrence in his book “Mare e Sardegna”.

The mayor Oppus, a few years ago on the occasion of his grandfather's 100th birthday, had given him his books where the house where he was born is depicted, the volume with the story about his grandfather Peppi Arreimundu Perra soldier of the Third War of Independence and the one on Canon who baptized him in June 1919.

The full name chosen by the parents is Vinicio Calogero Luigi, but at the registry office of the Municipality it was registered as Vinicio Perra. He is the first Mandarese to reach this important milestone.
