13 years in prison for sexual assault on a minor . This was the sentence handed down today in court in Sassari against a 44-year-old man accused of abusing his partner's son from 2016 to 2020 in a municipality in the Sassari province when the child was not yet ten years old.

The panel, chaired by Giancosimo Mura, with Monia Adami and Sara Pelicci on his sides, ordered the same sentence requested, also under discussion today, by the prosecutor Maria Paola Asara.

The deputy prosecutor reviewed the allegations and the revelations made by the child himself when, in seventh grade, he recounted what he had suffered . His version, heard during an evidentiary hearing, was deemed credible, and revealed a critical family context in which the couple had also taken cocaine. But worse, despite her son's claims of abuse, the mother did not intervene. She, incidentally, had already been convicted of the incident in the first and second instances. However, the child spoke with his biological father and other family members, and thus the complaint was filed, followed by the trial that led to the conclusions reached today for the defendant, represented by lawyer Carlo Pinna Parpaglia.

The panel also awarded the injured party a provisional sum of 40,000 euros .

Attorney Dionigi Porcu represented the civil party, while attorney Tina Lunesu argued at today's hearing.
