For days, his battle by Andrea Dessolis, a forty-year-old from Mamoiada, has been circulating on social media. Blind since the age of 17 due to retinal maculopathy, he asks for greater rights and protection for himself and for those who face architectural and bureaucratic obstacles.

Dessolis complains about the precarious conditions of the roads and pavements of his town, full of obstacles, which cause difficulties and risks in his travels. Added to these is the protest for the renewal of the disabled card, resolved in the last few hours.

«Thanks to the precious support of a municipal official», explains Dessolis, «I was able to have the card on a temporary basis: the Municipality is currently without the plastic that makes it compliant with the legislation».

He continues: «I travel by bus every day to Nuoro, where I work. I have to face an obstacle course towards the bus stop, even though my faithful friend Dumbo is now with me."

Last December 2nd Dessolis returned from Lombardy where after a long wait he was given his guide dog by an association: «I had to wait two years», he continues, « but I'm happy because now he will be there to follow me everywhere together to my loved ones who have already been doing it for years."

There is no shortage of further concerns: «Dumbo struggles to guide me through the various obstacles he encounters on the local roads. Their accommodation would be appropriate, not for my benefit but for the entire population, for those who drive a stroller, a pram or are pregnant."

Acting as an interpreter of the problem, the mayor Luciano Barone declares: «We are on the same side. And on our part there is no opposition to Andrea's battle, which I hope will help us to have the necessary resources to improve our street furniture . Requests filed for some time between ministries for 9 million and the Region with 6". The mayor continues: «The work of our officials is precious and every day they fight for the protection of the common good. We are on the side of Andrea and all those who experience difficulties, in this direction we have already allocated 70,000 euros to redevelop some points of the historic center, where he and some elderly people live. For the benefit of the entire community."
