The government and Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni announce new measures to contain the migrant emergency, also in light of the latest landings. Meanwhile, in Sardinia the number of places in the Macomer repatriation detention center will be increased.

The CPR is located in a former prison, in an area " with a very low population density and easily perimeterized and surveilled", as explained in the video released by Palazzo Chigi in which the Prime Minister announced new measures for Monday.

In the town of Marghine, work is imminent on the new wing to be renovated, which will have to contain 32 additional seats, in addition to the 50 already occupied in the structure in use which is currently at maximum capacity.

The interventions will be carried out by a Roman company which was awarded the work on the two floors of the building.

Next week, from what we understand, the company's technicians together with the managers of Invitalia, which manages the tender procedure on behalf of the Ministry of the Interior, will carry out an inspection of the premises, for the renovation of which - according to some estimates - it will be necessary a little time. The company will have to sign the contract and immediately start work to transform the cells of the former prison into rooms with two or three places.
