A nighttime mouflon hunt resulted in a stampede and a forest ranger's car being raked. It occurred in the Gairo countryside, where the Forestry Corps discovered illegal hunting outside of permitted hours. During checks in Ogliastra, a rifle and a car were seized, while the carcass of a mouflon was recovered in the area where the fugitives had headed.

Last weekend, during a night shift, officers from the Environmental and Forestry Police Investigative Unit heard a gunshot coming from a rural area of Gairo. Shortly thereafter, they intercepted the car used by the suspected poachers . The two occupants, however, did not stop at the checkpoint: they fled, ramming the forestry personnel's service vehicle.

A search began immediately, leading to the discovery of the car abandoned in the countryside. The vehicle was seized. Investigators then searched the home of the gun license holder, identified as one of the passengers. His rifle was also seized and his gun license was revoked.

The carcass of a mouflon was also found in the area where the fugitives had entered with their car, which had apparently been killed during an illegal hunt.

The incident was reported to the Lanusei Public Prosecutor's Office. The charges concern resisting a public official and violations of hunting regulations.

Further violations were also discovered by the Forestry Corps of the Jerzu station, engaged in a series of inspections of hunting activities. In this case, both administrative and criminal violations were found. The investigation, coordinated by the Public Prosecutor's Office, is ongoing.
