In Bolotana, it's a real emergency. A health emergency, to be precise, which has forced the mayor to call for urgent intervention to address a situation that has become unsustainable. The severe shortage of general practitioners is forcing many residents to travel to neighboring municipalities and major urban centers, even to obtain a prescription or referral.

There are many difficulties, many protests, and many inconveniences, especially for the elderly and those with chronic conditions, who require ongoing care and face greater obstacles in their travel. "As mayor and local health authority, in carrying out my duties to protect the health of the community I administer," writes Francesco Manconi, " I highlight the serious hardship caused by the shortage of general practitioners. The community needs an accessible healthcare provider capable of providing basic care, medical visits, medication prescriptions, and access to diagnostic tests and specialist appointments."

Hence the request for urgent written feedback on the measures intended to ensure basic healthcare for the population, specifying the organizational solutions envisaged. "Even temporary ones, and the related implementation times," the mayor wrote, "we urge prompt action to provide a concrete response to the health needs of citizens and ensure continuity of care throughout the municipality."

The mayor's letter was sent to the Macomer health district, the Nuoro local health authority, and then to the interim councilor and regional president, Alessandra Todde.
