Revolutionary liver transplant surgery in Cagliari.

The multidisciplinary team of Arnas Brotzu successfully performed an operation on a 58-year-old patient suffering from liver metastases from previous colon cancer, using the technique of clinical hypnosis alongside traditional pharmacological anesthesia.

To prepare for the surgery, the patient underwent several preliminary meetings with the radiologist Danilo Sirigu , specialized in the use of the clinical hypnosis method. The specialist thus prepared the patient for all phases of the surgical process, before, during and after the operation. The awakening of the patient in hypnosis was carried out , for the first time in an organ transplant, in the operating room instead of in resuscitation and allowed a considerable reduction in complications .

The use of clinical hypnosis has served to reduce the use of drugs and pharmacological coma and to better manage and control post-operative pain.

The result of the surgery was published in the international scientific journal "Annals of medicine and surgery" .
