«We are in the car, we are arriving» . The call is from Luca Paderi. He's at the wheel, on the 554, arriving from Muravera. Next to him is Alessandra Sanna, his wife: she is giving birth. Little Francesco did not want to wait for the arrival at the hospital, the Policlinico, where his mother was followed for the entire duration of her pregnancy.

Francesco was born in the parking lots of Block Q of the hospital with the assistance of a midwife, Agnese Piras, who was doing a refresher course on emergencies, when Paderi called. «Everything happened in a few minutes», says Piras, «I was in the hospital and I was participating in the refresher course on obstetric emergencies. The cell phone rings, it was Luca Paderi, the husband of Alessandra Sanna, a patient of our facility. “We are in the car and we are arriving”, he told me. I distinctly heard the screams of the patient and I could not waste time».

Agnese leaves the room where the course is taking place and runs towards the car parks of the Policlinico, just as the car was arriving: the door opens, she enters with a leap.

«Little Francesco», Agnese continues, «already had his head out. I opened the gestational sac and provided the first neonatal care".

A few seconds later the reinforcements arrived: the gynecologist Francesca Marotto, the midwife Carla Ortu, the oss Donatella Porru and Cinzia Zanda who, says Agnese Piras, "transferred the woman to the stretcher while I took care of the first care of the child" .

Now baby and mom are fine and will soon go home.
