«The undersigned President of ASD Sportisola La Maddalena, with "bewildered amazement", learned via pec email of the claim of the La Maddalena Archipelago National Park to cancel the walk, already duly authorized and sponsored and scheduled for next June 23rd». We are talking about the "Guazza di San Giovanni" trek, 7 kilometers away, "to discover the medicinal plants of the archipelago in the magical evening of San Giovanni", with an appointment, with free participation, at 17.30, in front of the church of the Holy Trinity.

According to Marta D'Amico, one would perceive, «in the reasons given in the note, a real "trial of intentions": a "damage, alteration, removal of endemic floristic species" is assumed and the presence of a "large group ” which could risk disturbing the birdlife which, at this moment, is carrying out its production cycle».

«They didn't make any kind of request, question», replies the director of the National Park, Giulio Plastina, «We weren't overwhelmed with messages from alarmed people who, after reading posts on social media, got worried and told us they sent the link. At that point, with the Environment Office we decided to communicate to the organizers: be careful, for something like this we give you a preventive refusal, because it is something that cannot be done, as we are inside a special protection zone. There are a number of limitations."

In the letter, Marta D'Amico writes again that «the management of the Park, for fear of the hordes of "bird disturbers" who will participate in the afternoon trek, takes care in advance to forbid a walk of which they do not know the place, time and nor how to carry it out, because apart from the timetable, meeting point (churchyard) and the obligation to bring water to drink and to wear sports clothes, nothing is specified on the chosen route, which, at this point, could be carried out, with the due authorization of the owners, in the numerous private lands present in the area or along paved roads where there are houses and where vehicles pass".

But to this statement the National Park replies that, even if it is privately owned, «it doesn't change; it's not like you can do what you want on private property!».

In any case, concludes the president of Sportisola, Marta d'Amico, «sure of doing something pleasing to the Park management, I invite all interested parties to participate in large numbers (but not too many), to wear sports clothes and silent shoes and to bring only and exclusively petals from one's own gardens». However, the National Park does not close all its doors: «I left them the possibility of doing something but let's agree on it; there is full availability», says Plastina.
