Three men have been arrested in Sassari by the Carabinieri on charges of being behind two break-ins that occurred in recent days in the province of Cagliari.

The operation, conducted by the Sassari company's operations unit in collaboration with the Cagliari provincial command, is the result of a rapid and coordinated investigation, triggered by an attempted robbery at a supermarket in Pula.

According to the military's reconstruction, on the night between July 29th and 30th, the three suspects, their faces covered by neck warmers and hats, allegedly broke through the hypermarket's entrance window using a stolen car.

Once inside, they allegedly tried to take away a safe by tying it with ropes to a second vehicle, but were forced to flee empty-handed.

Video surveillance footage and cross-referencing led to the identification of the alleged perpetrators, who were later located in Sassari and searched. Inside their homes, officers found: 63 pieces of gold jewelry (rings, bracelets, and necklaces) with an estimated value of approximately €20,000, three portable radios, headlamps, a belt compatible with those used to burgle safes, and €700 in cash.

The material also linked the group to a second theft, committed on the night of July 29th in Elmas . In that case, the thieves managed to enter a jewelry store, smash the interior windows, and steal all the jewelry on display.

The three men were transferred to Bancali prison in Sassari, by order of the Prosecutor's Office, which is coordinating the investigation. The recovered stolen goods will be returned to their rightful owners .
