"We will occupy the hospital." This was announced in recent days by the mayor of Ittiri Antonio Sau, in front of a crowded public assembly in front of the town hall, supported by local mayors, trade union confederations, regional councilors and citizens.

The sensational initiative as a sign of protest against the Region for the failure to reopen the historic Alivesi hospital, and in particular the long-term care ward. Closed this summer due to the transfer of staff to the Covid department in Alghero.

Since yesterday evening, therefore, mayor, council, municipal councilors and citizens have occupied the structure, setting up a tent in front of the entrance where citizens go to sign "No to the closure of Alivesi". So far, thousands of signatures have been collected. Picketing shifts have also been established.

"We will continue the occupation at least until next week, when a Municipal Council will be opened in front of the Regional Palace - explains the mayor of Ittiri Antonio Sau -. We will hold this Council in conjunction with a meeting of the Regional Assembly. They will therefore be obliged to listen to us. and take quick action ".
