Great example of interweaving of Mediterranean cultures in Calasetta where the parade of a delegation of the "Boes and Merdules" of Ottana filled the central Piazza Belly and the streets of the town.

In fact, many wanted to participate in the exhibition of traditional masks that base their history in antiquity and represent the struggle between animal instinct and human reason. The local culture, in Calasetta, is light years away and goes back to its origins, in Genoa, Pegli and the island of Tabarka.

However, many, including many tourists, wanted to attend the performance of the representatives of the Ottana association which boasts 90 members between adults and children. About fifteen of them in Calasetta gave life to a representation usually performed on the occasion of the Carnival.

«For us», say Mario Sedda and Fabrizio Puggioni, president and vice president of Boes and Merdules, «being able to exhibit in the squares and streets of localities in Sardinia, gives us the opportunity to make our traditions and our association known. We celebrate 50 years of activity aware of carrying on a tradition strongly rooted in the past».

The event took place as part of the evening entertainment dedicated to the windsurfing world championship which did not take place due to the lack of wind.
