"We have a public service, there can be no interruption of public service, so there will be continuity." This is what Alessandra Todde, representing the Region, said regarding the cancellation of the tender for the management of the Canadair aircraft in the national fleet.
"Obviously," the president clarified, " the costs will be higher, and we're certainly not happy about having to sustain a firefighting campaign at increased costs , but the continuity of the service is not in question." Now, she added, "we need to make it efficient at costs that don't dramatically impact regional resources, but that's a discussion on another level."
Mauro Merella, Director General of the Civil Protection of Sardinia, also assured the continuity of the service: «From mid-June the first aircraft will be deployed in Olbia, as planned» .
