In Sardinia 18 fires, emergency in Calangianus for cork forests of considerable environmental value

There were 18 fires that occurred in Sardinia today and for 5 of these the Forestry Corps used air vehicles in addition to the ground crews.

The emergencies started in Sassari, where in the Truncu Reale area there was a large fire inside the shed of a company that deals with waste management . The staff of the Sassari Forestry Corps Station intervened, assisted by the personnel on board the helicopters coming from the CFVA bases in Bosa and Anela together with the intervention team who arrived on board the Superpuma from the CFVA base in Fenosu. A team from the Forestas Agency of the Sassari shipyards, one from the Barracellar Company of Sassari, two from the firefighters of Sassari and Porto Torres and one of volunteers from the Sassari associations are operational.

Flames also in San Vero Milis in the locality of "Perda Martigiana", whose extinguishing was coordinated by the staff of the Forestry Corps of Oristano with the GAUF team of the territorial service of the CFVA of Oristano and the helicopter coming from the base of the CFVA of Fenosu A team from the Forestas Agency from the Massama construction site and one from the Oristano fire brigade intervened The fire covered an area of about one hectare of stubble.

Another fire in Siurgus Donigala , in the area of “Palas Minadroxiu” where the extinguishing was coordinated by the staff of the Senorbì Forestry Station, together with the helicopters coming from the CFVA bases of Villasalto, Sorgono and San Cosimo. A team from the Forestas Agency from the Senorbì site and 2 teams of volunteers from the Siurgus Donigala and Goni associations worked. The fire covered an area of about 4 hectares of cork oak.

Fire also in Monti , locality “R. Cafone ", whose shutdown was coordinated by the staff of the Forestry Corps Station of Monti, assisted by the GAUF team of the territorial service of the CFVA of Tempio and by the staff on board the helicopters coming from the CFVA bases of Alà dei Sardi and Farcana, this the latter subsequently diverted to the Calangianus fire. There were 2 teams from the Forestas Agency, 1 team of barracelli, 1 team of the Fire Brigade and 2 teams of volunteers. The flames covered an area of about 2 hectares of wooded pasture.

In Calangianus the fire developed in the locality "Ea Bona"; the extinguishing operations were carried out under the coordination of the staff of the Calangianus Forestry Corps Station, assisted by the personnel on board the helicopters coming from the CFVA Limbara base and by the helicopters of the CFVA bases of Farcana, Anela, Alà dei Sardi and by the staff aboard the Superpuma from the fires of Sassari and Monti. Two Canadair ships from Olbia and Ciampino are also operational. Numerous teams on the ground to extinguish the flames affecting cork forests of considerable environmental value.
