The Caritas “Santa Teresa di Calcutta” health listening center was inaugurated this morning in the parish of Sant'Elia, in via dei Musicisti in Cagliari, the first connected to the multi-specialist medical clinic of the diocesan Caritas.

This is a service managed by doctors, nurses and volunteers to intercept the needs of the population in a fragile neighborhood full of needs .

However, Sant'Elia will not be the only centre, there are already other requests from other entities in the Diocese to open other health care centers . Also present at the inauguration was Father Gennaro Rosato, superior of the Oblate missionaries of Mary Immaculate, who blessed the premises before cutting the ribbon. «In addition to the listening activity - explains the representative of the Center Maria Bernadetta Aloi, a retired oncologist - we have started to interact with the families, we are organizing cycles of monthly conferences , together with the volunteers of the Listening Centre, to raise awareness and educate about health promotion ".

An even more significant service for a neighborhood that is too often forgotten. «Residents have long expressed the need to have such an important point of reference. Here our medical clinic has been occupied by squatters and a large portion of citizens have been left without a doctor. This center also serves to orient and understand people's problems", concludes the parish priest Father Saverio Fabiano.
