Spread out the towel, lie down in the sun and who do you find yourself as a neighbor of an umbrella? Nothing less than a beautiful peacock with a colorful tail . It happens in Quartu on the Stella di Mare 2 beach in front of the “Golden Years” residence for the elderly.

The presence of birds is not new in the area and last year they were also the subject of protests and unpleasant incidents, so much so that some were even killed .

But if it is true that they continue to roam on the roofs and through the streets of the village, it is much rarer to see them on the beach, who knows, maybe they too are looking for a little cool. To immortalize them was the municipal councilor of Cagliari Marcello Polastri who is preparing a documentary on peacocks.

"Peacocks straggling in front of the camera - said Polastri - I followed their movements and it is curious to see that they move from Stella di Mare, crossing the entire coast, and reaching above the Devil's Saddle, where several specimens have been sighted on the medieval towers overlooking the sea ".

The first ones arrived almost thirty years ago brought by no one knows who and how. The fact is that in the subdivision of Stella di Mare 2, along the coast, the peacocks found a favorable and safe environment, so much so that little by little they started a family and still today they continue to find a comfortable refuge.

There are currently twenty. One of their favorite meeting points is the “Golden Years” senior citizens' residence, where for years they have been an attraction for guests who also keep company when they go out into the garden.
