The works of the extension of the Antemurale di Ponente , the 34 million euro infrastructural work of fundamental importance for the commercial port of Porto Torres, have still been postponed.

The delay is attributable to the explantation and replanting of the oceanic posidonia , an intervention by the experts of the University of Sassari , therefore the Port System Authority is awaiting the relative authorizations issued by the Ministry of the Environment , a necessary step for the construction sites opening.

The works , after years of waiting, could start next April . In various years there have been announcements of the start of interventions aimed at extending the barricade, rooted outside the Ponente dam, a structure of about 680 meters in length which traces the new mouth of the port, to protect it from wave motion.

Works necessary to make the maneuvers of ships entering the port easier and safer. The project was planned at the same time as the resection of the High Waters quay of the civic port, which should start concurrently.
