The mysterious trachyte figurine, the so-called "Veneretta", found in 1949 in the "Marras" cave, in the S'Adde valley, becomes a sporting trophy. This is probably the oldest anthropomorphic representation found in Sardinia which has been preserved in the Archaeological Museum of Cagliari for 75 years.

It is a small sculpture in trachyte, 14 centimetres, with a hare's snout head, but with human features, which, since its discovery, has divided scholars due to its origins and which, in any case, has become a symbol for the capital of Marghine. Precisely for this reason the municipal administration wanted the "Veneretta" to become a sporting trophy, to recognize the important value of city sport.

The prize and recognition for deserving athletes and sports clubs is entitled "Veneretta 2004". It is an event that the municipal Department of Sport, in collaboration with the Department of Culture, wants to organize for next April, to reward athletes and sports associations who have particularly distinguished themselves for competitive and social merit during 2023. It is a sort of Grand Gala to recognize the important role played by sport in the social fabric of the city. Precisely to identify deserving athletes and associations, the municipal administration requests the participation and involvement of all sports associations active in the town to which, in recent days, a letter of invitation to participate in the organization of the event has been sent .
