Some are still waiting for a permanent contract, others were hired last year after a long insecurity. They are the contractors who work at level crossings on the Cagliari-Isili railway line .

«They hired me on 18 December last year», says Donatella Vargiu of Barrali, «the contract was renewed every three years, but every time the deadline approached I experienced days of anguish. Now fortunately I have had a permanent contract . Many others are still waiting to be stabilized." This is a job in danger of extinction because when level crossings are automated the presence of hirers will no longer be necessary . «We will have to change jobs», comments Bruno Casadio.
