In 2023 in Sardinia 2 thousand calls per day to 112: peaks of 8 thousand in summer
Evaluation of a year of work by Areus: over half of the requests for intervention, however, were not true emergenciesPer restare aggiornato entra nel nostro canale Whatsapp
In 2023 , a total of 780 thousand calls made by dialing 112 (new single European number) arrived at the Sassari single response center.
An average of over 2000 per day in the winter months, with significant increases in the summer months, which recorded peaks of 8000 calls per day.
This is the budget for 2023 of the Regional Emergency and Urgency Company of Sardinia (Areus).
Significant increase also recorded on New Year's Eve. The 112 center received 900 more calls than the average, mostly requests for help then managed by 118. The filtering action of the center made it possible to send to the relevant bodies (118, firefighters, carabinieri and police) 48% of the total calls received (around 374 thousand). Calls not forwarded, because they were improper, instead exceed 52% of the total.
The data confirms that 112 carried out an important filtering action and was able to correctly orient the citizen towards his real need, often not a real emergency, effectively lightening the workload on the bodies involved in the Single European Number .
Waiting times have also been drastically reduced. The Sassari exchange responds to the user's call in just 3 and a half seconds, in line with the performance of the other Italian Curs, already active in Italy for years. The technical operator in the Nue operations room encodes the request for help or emergency and immediately activates the second level control units (rescue or law enforcement), transferring details and the precise position of the caller in just a few seconds.
The new system officially started across the island on March 1st after a gradual transition which after Olbia affected all the telephone districts of the island thanks to an important connection between Areus and the Prefectures.
