Illness at sea in Tertenia, Monica Melis did not make it

Monica Melis did not make it, the 58 -year-old who had an illness yesterday in the sea of Tertenia.

The woman, who felt ill a few moments after entering the water, was rescued by some people who were on the beach and later by the team of volunteers from the Tortolì Green Cross and the Areus helicopter.

The desperate attempt to transport her to the Brotzu hospital in Cagliari where she died immediately after arrival was useless. A heart attack is almost certainly fatal.

The victim was originally from Tertenia but had been residing for some time in Quartu Sant'Elena where he lived with his family.
