The expert operations ordered by the magistrates of the Tempio Prosecutor's Office began today as part of the investigation into the death of the hunter from Villacidro, Pietro Mais. The autopsy on the victim's body was performed in Sassari.
Mais, 63 years old, died in Olbia on the evening of December 22 after being admitted to hospital; the man had been transferred to the Emergency Room of the Giovanni Paolo II following a hunting accident in the countryside of Aglientu.
But he was hit by a bullet in the abdomen and for reasons the medical examiner will have to clarify did not survive surgery.
The autopsy reports were notified to a 37-year-old hunter from Calangianus, investigated for manslaughter. The man, defended by the lawyer Maurizio Diomedi, allegedly fired the shotgun that accidentally hit the victim.
