She raised pigs and their young in plastic bags and waste. Many of these, classified as "dangerous", arrived directly - at least according to the containers scattered in the pigsty and found by the Metropolitan Police and the Forestry Corps - from the Brotzu hospital. Investigators engaged in the investigation for some time confiscated fourteen cases. Black, plastic, with the inscription “Dangerous medical waste with infectious risk”. It seems that the 80-year-old farmer, Francesco Setti, arrested in recent days with his son Walter, went to pick them up directly in the storage area of the San Michele hospital of the Brotzu company, to then distribute them, together with other organic waste and various foods, in the piggery as food for the pigs. For its 36 pigs and dozens of piglets seized by the Metropolitan Police who in recent days has placed the seals on the company.
The blitz
It is precisely in the context of the investigation on special waste that the other morning, during a raid on the Pirri company not far from the 554 state road, that the Septa, father and son, got into trouble for detaining grams of inflorescences. of marijuana. The dogs of the canine group of the Guardia di Finanza, involved in the operation, sniffed the drugs hidden behind a freezer and kept in two perfectly sealed bags. Not sufficiently sealed, however, to betray the extraordinary nose of the dogs of the Yellow Flames. The two breeders, defended by the lawyer Mauro Massa for drug possession, were both arrested but while Francesco Setti was also under house arrest for his predecessors, his 31-year-old son Walter was released by the judge. Yesterday, during the hearing, at Massa's request, the judge ordered an accurate analysis of the quality of the drugs and the trial was postponed to 13 September.
The controls
In short, marijuana was certainly not the main objective of the investigation coordinated by the public prosecutor Rita Cariello on the waste collected at Brotzu and carried out in parallel by the Local Police of Cagliari and by the former Provincial police (both led by Commander Guido Calzia) and by the Investigative Unit of the Forestry Corps (coordinated by Commissioner Fabrizio Madeddu). Objective? Illegal management and disposal of hazardous waste.
The search
A search was thus arranged in the pigsty where there was the certainty that a lot of waste collected in the Brotzu bins but also in the hospital storage center would end up. Francesco Setti (who in addition to the pigs also had a flock of sheep with which he entered the hospital area several times to graze the sheep as well as in the areas around the buildings of Su Planu and Monreale) introduced himself without any authorization in the deposits of the Brotzu hospital - as had been verified by the investigators - to collect organic waste also from infectious departments. For the farmer it was free food for his 36 pigs. The Septis were also filmed by the investigators during the sampling. The search confirmed the investigative hypotheses. Scattered on the ground, in the enclosures of the pigsty, are the yellow containers and bags used to store special medical waste.
