This morning, for Monday, the leaders of Asl 8 and Brotzu summoned by the regional councilor for health, Carlo Doria, because "certain situations cannot be tolerated". And yesterday evening the irrevocable resignation of the head of Anesthesia and Intensive Care of the Holy Trinity (and of Microcitemico), Leonardo Bianciardi.

The bomb exploded. The detonator was the complaint of Francesca Ziccheddu, president of Asgop (association of children of Pediatric Oncohematology): "There are children, patients of Microcitemico, who have been waiting for months for the venous catheter used to administer the treatments to be removed". he said, «it happens because resuscitators are needed, who come from Brotzu even if the hospital is in the hands of the ASL. And they are few, often forced to face emergencies ». Thus non-urgent removals slip and the little ones have to deal with an ordeal that prevents them from trying to lead a normal life (as far as possible): no sea, no free showers, with a high risk of infections.

In recent weeks the anesthesiologists of the Holy Trinity had refused to work on the children: without specialization, they said, we do not run the risk. The leaders of the ASL then pointed the finger at the primary Bianciardi, against whom a disciplinary procedure was also initiated. The escalation of tensions (there is also a complaint in the prosecutor's office) led to his resignation presented last night: even if the top management claims that there is nothing official, they are definitive and convinced. The solidarity of the parents' associations comes towards Bianciardi.

Meanwhile, the Microcitemico case, and the pains suffered by the children, fall on the table of the Health councilor, who has summoned everyone: «At the table, scheduled in the councilorship on Monday at 13.00, the leaders of ASL 8 and Arnas Brotzu will participate , the directors of the complex anesthesia structures of the two companies and the director of the complex structure of Pediatric Oncohematology of Microcitemico», reads a note from the Region.

An urgent meeting, explains Doria, «to understand where the mechanism is jammed and identify and limit the profiles of responsibility. I reiterate once again: it is not important which plate is displayed outside the hospital, or whether the Microcitemico belongs to the ASL 8 or to the Arnas Brotzu, the only aspect that matters, in a health system that is a "system" and it is “regional”, it is the cures».

What the health system must guarantee, continues the commissioner, «are the adequacy and safety of treatments. Contingencies of this type must always be foreseen. What cannot be tolerated are situations like the one complained of in this case. Monday's meeting will also serve to clarify these aspects».
