The last of the three sessions focused on the psychiatric assessment ordered by the Assize Court of Appeal against Alba Veronica Puddu , the 53-year-old doctor from Tertenia sentenced to life imprisonment in the first degree for aggravated voluntary homicide, circumvention of an incompetent person and fraud .

The sentence found the professional guilty of having treated patients suffering from tumors with alternative methodologies - ultrasound, radiofrequency and blood revitalization - which would have reduced the patients' life expectancy and accelerated their death.

The defense lawyers Gianluca Aste and Michele Zuddas and the attorney general Luigi Patronaggio requested the psychiatric assessment, which was decisive for the defendant's fate.

Puddu also today responded to the last round of questions from the psychiatrist Elvezio Pirfo - former expert witness for Annamaria Franzoni in the Cogne case and more recently in the trial of Alessia Pifferi - and from the party consultants, Paolo Milia for the defense and Diego Primavera for the parties civilians.

The expert and consultants will meet on April 22nd for a discussion, their reports will be brought to the courtroom at the hearing already set for May 24th. But already from the meeting on April 22nd it will be possible to understand the orientation of the Court's expert.

If the incapacity of understanding and will were ascertained, in whole or in part, the verdict would change: in the first case there would be a move towards acquittal, in the second she could be sentenced to a more lenient sentence .
