Mussels and oysters, for a total of sixty kilos: this is the merchandise seized this morning during a joint operation by the Coast Guard and the local police of Cagliari in via Is Mirrionis.
The checks were carried out on an illegal street vendor who had been parking his van in the courtyard of the parking houses on Via Timavo for some time, behind a sign reading “here is sea urchin pulp”: the mussels did not meet any traceability requirements.
The illegal street vendor was fined 1500 euros for failure to comply with health and hygiene regulations and 5000 euros for not having an authorization to operate a commercial activity. The van, without insurance, was seized.
The investigations have seen hectic phases: the man tried to hinder the work of the officers and police agents but, with the support of the Carabinieri of the Cagliari Company, the situation returned to normal and the operations of notification of sanctions and reports continued regularly.
