He ran over and killed a compatriot in Quartu after an argument: Nigerian sentenced to 4 years
Road homicide recognized, but with extenuating circumstances: provocation and excess of self-defenseFour years' imprisonment for vehicular homicide, but with the mitigating circumstances of provocation and negligent excess of self-defense. This is the sentence imposed by the Assize Court of Cagliari on 42-year-old Osazee Igbinoghodua, the Nigerian held responsible for the murder of his compatriot Oshomah Friday, 36, who was hit and ended up against a wall in via Pirastu in Quartu on 2 May 2021.
The Prosecutor's Office, with prosecutor Ginevra Grilletti who had coordinated the investigations, had considered that the investment had been a deliberate act and, for this reason, had asked for the accused to be sentenced to 19 years in prison for voluntary homicide. The Court presided over by Judge Tiziana Marogna (alongside Alessandra Angioni) accepted almost entirely the reconstruction of the defenders, the lawyers Francesca Tribisonna and Gianfranco Sollai, who had underlined how their client had been the victim of an attack.
The prosecution and the civil party lawyers Stefano Marcialis, Alessandra Pomata and Antonella Spissu have a different opinion. For two and a half years, Osazee Igbinoghodua - who was present in the courtroom - has been locked up in Uta prison in preventive custody. The Court ordered his immediate release.
