A sailor taken ill , aboard an oil tanker flying the Portuguese flag sailing not too far from the coast of Sardinia , was rescued last night by the Coast Guard and was transported by helicopter to the Brotzu hospital in Cagliari. The alarm went off in the late afternoon.

The Coast Guard of Cagliari immediately raised "Nemo", a helicopter of the Decimomannu Section.

The aircraft of the Captaincy reached the tanker in a very short time and in hovering maneuvers (hovering over the ship) it harnessed and recovered the sailor , with the help of a rescue aircraft who lowered himself with a winch.

The man was hospitalized at Brotzu. The rescue operation lasted a total of about an hour.
