In the Sardinian sea there are 4 polluted spots. Three are located at the mouth of rivers, one off the beach of Calamosca.

The result comes at the end of the monitoring of Legambiente's green schooner which began on 20 June and ended on 1 August with the use of over 200 volunteers.

The samples taken on the island were 29: 10 in the province of Sassari, 6 in the province of Nuoro, 5 in southern Sardinia, 4 in those of Oristano and Cagliari. Twenty-one were taken from the sea while eight were sampled in the mouths.

And there are four results beyond the limits of the law. Two were judged to be "polluted" and two others were judged to be "heavily polluted".

The worst situations, therefore those with "heavily polluted" results, at the mouth of the watercourse in via Aldo Moro in Alghero , in the locality of San Giovanni. Same judgment for the mouth of the Rio Foxi in Quartu Sant'Elena .

The mouth of the Rio Cuggiani in Valledoria in the locality of San Pietro a Mare and a point in the sea in front of the beach of Calamosca in Cagliari were judged to be polluted.

While in the provinces of Nuoro, Oristano and South Sardinia all the points sampled were "within the limits".

"Compared to last year - underlines Legambiente Sardegna - there was a reduction in the points that exceeded the legal limits and the resolution, at least temporarily, of some long-standing critical issues".

The data was transmitted to the Port Authority, Municipalities and Arpa. For Foxi in Quartu, something could improve with the creation of the new collector.

The samples for microbiological analyzes were taken in sterile jars and stored in the refrigerator until analysis, which takes place on the same day or in any case within 24 hours. The investigated parameters are microbiological (intestinal enterococci). The number of samples is defined in proportion to the kilometers of coastline in each region.
