There are the Giants, those of Mont'e Prama, carved one by one in the hard calcarenite stone. There are the Nuraghi, raised on the land of Sardinia with an engineering mastery that still surprises and fascinates today. Cyclopean boulders, forged and placed one on top of the other, up to build the imposing monuments of the ancient civilization of the Sardinian people, which have survived intact to this day. And, then, there's the cardboard, as much as a forest uprooted to erect a tacky monument destined in a short time for the most thankless pulping. Never could that solid civilization of stone, robust and daring, have thought that on the threshold of the Chinese year of the rabbit, 3500/4000 years after the birth of the oldest nuraghes, someone could think of promoting so much millennial history by erecting piles of cardboard, moreover laundry, to brighten the idyllic vision of the ancient Nuragic land. Never more unhealthy could that idea reveal itself, which has come down to the present day with lots of resolutions and deeds of expenditure, signed and stamped.

Avalanche of money

Documents that consolidate the belief that behind the setting up of Archeologika 2022, the fair organized by the Mont'e Prama Foundation, created shortly after last year's harvest, with copious and infinite funds disbursed by the Sardinian Region, there is sufficient expenditure to overcome well over a million euros. All for two/three days of conferences and souvenirs, all set up and distributed in the covered promenade of the Bastione di Cagliari. Not just any expense, but punctuated by dozens of "determinations" all inspired by an administrative candor that lies behind the clause of the direct assignment «up to 139,000 euros even without consulting several economic operators». Everything in order, until proven otherwise, but certainly a system which, divided into dozens of tasks and expenses, constitutes an unprecedented vulnerability in the management of events of this nature.

Weaving & Cardboard

On this matter yesterday we told of impressive assignments for press offices and various consultancies, intertwined between Cagliari and Pisa, with companies connected and overlapping with related shareholders and share capital and even located in the same entrances. Names and surnames of characters chasing each other, interfaced by the management of public money on several fronts, from culture to publishing, from healthcare to the archaeological field. Certainly the determination 112 of the administrative area of the “ mont'e prama foundation ” will go down in history. The date is September 8, 2022. The mission spelled out on the title page is one that makes good taste goosebumps just when reading the object: «Cardboard scenography set-up for Archeologika 2022». It makes ancestors shiver and not only at the idea that the immense civilization of the Sardinian people is promoted to the sound of cardboard, ignoring the emotional and scenographic impact of the mammoth monuments scattered in every corner of this land miraculated by God and by the Nuragics. Instead, nothing. To promote ancient civilization, a cardboard scenography was "invented", which was intended to reproduce the sinuosity of nuraghes and ancient villages. Never, however, could one have thought that someone would get to the point of "investing", never a verb was more inadequate, such a disproportionate amount to buy that cartoon. The determination is exemplary right from the premises. Finding cardboard on the Nuraghi Island is almost impossible. The Mont'e Prama Foundation says it which writes: «Considering that it has been found difficult to find all three economic operators on the SardegnaCat portal necessary for the performance of the Service object of the determination and, therefore, for the purposes of defining the procedure, it is necessary to reduce the number of operators. The competitors in this competition to see who sells the most cardboard become two. The resolution omits the second, but explicitly states the first: Character srl, Predda Niedda in Sassari. The amount is hair-hair with the legal limit. The Mont'e Prama Foundation spends the beauty of 169 thousand euros of cardboard, including VAT. Yes, cardboard, the disposable one, just enough time for three days of scenography which, according to the organizers, should reproduce the Nuragic civilisation.

Cardboard wall

If the Giants & Nuragics could act civilly, they would certainly have asked for significant damages, of image and neglect, the one carved in the perennial abandonment of the archaeological site of Mont'e Prama. That cardboard wall, on the other hand, made a fine show in the covered promenade in the Bastion of Cagliari, testifying that the shopping was successful. It certainly won't be easy to justify those 169,000 euros of "empty boxes" for three days. The expenditure commitments, however, do not end with the promotion of cardboard civilization.

Monitors galore

The touch of modernity comes thanks to another impressive assignment, a good 69,000 euros to rent "monitors" for three days. Impossible to know how many, in the resolutions it is not mentioned, just to hide a touch of surprise in an administrative act that should, however, be clear, transparent and precise. It is certainly known that those monitors are rented by the Mont'e Prama Foundation in Cagliari, in the Genneruxi district, from a company that deals with photocopiers and computers. A 69,000 euro rental for a few monitors to be placed in the box for three days, just for the occasion. The Archeologika 2022 affair becomes even more precious when deciding on the supply of signage and lights. In this case the figure exceeds one hundred thousand euros, again for three days of the event. More than thirty thousand euros a day. The supply in this case, always through direct negotiation, is entrusted to Sviluppo Performance Strategie srl, at the Olbia Costa Smeralda airport. We are, however, only at the beginning.

Weight of gold conferences

To manage the conferences on Civiltà Nuragica and Giants for those three days, none other than a company from Milan, Agorà srl, was called. It is not clear under what title this company can promote conferences on the ancient civilization of the Sardinian people in the shadow of the " bèla Madunina ", but it is certain that for that assignment it requested, and according to the deeds obtained, the impressive sum of almost 165 thousand euros. Quite a few, considering that in those three days, in Cagliari and Mont'e Prama, neither Nobel prize winners nor international stars were seen. Meanwhile, from Milan to Naples the step is short.

Napul'è for the Giants

To «organize “B2B”», an acronym which obviously is neither explained nor declined in numbers and services, (it could mean Business-to-business), to promote contracts between private individuals, the Mont'e Prama Foundation turns to a company even in “ Napul'è ”. To find her, they arrive in via Vanella Gaetani, in the capital of Campania, and they entrust him with a contract worth over 60,000 euros. Impossible to deny yourself a live streaming with all the trimmings for those three days: the assignment is to a company from Cagliari, in this case the contract exceeds 19,000 euros. Disproportionate figures if you think that we are talking about broadcasts enclosed on the web, with very modest views, without any impact on the general public, moreover on conferences that have not revealed unpublished secrets on the Nuragic civilization. The "press tours" and "educationals" could not be missing. In this case the assignment ends up in the hands of a "creative" studio in Cagliari. Overall expenditure to take some journalists for a walk, no one knows who, over 57 thousand euros. The expenses of Archeologika 2022 are an endless pit of money. Despite assignments galore for communication and surroundings, for hundreds of thousands of euros, the Foundation does not miss the "Communication of the event" service. The beneficiary is based in Predda Niedda, in Sassari. The amount of the fee for "communicating" the event is another 47 thousand euros. The organizers could not miss a bit of furniture. Where to get them if not in Vottignasco? A small town of 502 inhabitants in Piedmont. To win the rental and purchase of furniture for Archeologika 2022, amounting to 23 thousand euros, is the limited liability company "Peraria", a thousand kilometers from Cagliari. A few days before the fair, they realize that they have forgotten the «food, lodging and transfer service for B2B buyers». The solution is in Naples. To stay and eat in Cagliari and its surroundings, who knows who and how many, Progecta srl still takes care of it, still in via Gaetani, in the heart of Naples. Deliberate spending more than 20 thousand euros. Other "bizarre" expenses, including electricity, must be added to the culinary extravagances of a Neapolitan society grappling with traditional Sardinian food. According to what has been decided with a lot of administrative deed, the event would be without energy, given that the diligent foundation decides to contact a company in Capoterra to provide the rental of a generator set for the event. Amount spent as much as 14 thousand euros. As for the electricity bill for three nights, it's not bad, like lighting the Maracanã. Lastly, the kermesse could not do without hostesses. The Mont'e Prama Foundation is asking for services for 9,450 euros, the number of "welcome ladies" stationed at the Bastione di Cagliari for the three days is unknown. Finally, everything has to be cleaned. No problem. On the starting day of the event, October 13, the administrative service of the Sinis Foundation chooses the company for the final service, that of cleaning. The resolution does not spare rags and detergent: 14 thousand euros, for a surface area of 1,600 square meters. In short, golden cleaning, more than six euros per square metre. Both the Sardinians and the Giants pay, the real ones.
