An autopsy will be carried out on Monday on the body of Peppino Mele, the 83-year-old farmer, who was hit and killed on Friday evening by the bucket of the excavator driven by his son Efisio . A double tragedy that has shaken the entire community of Ghilarza and which could also have legal consequences. The investigations are underway, the Oristano prosecutor's office has opened a file, almost a duty.

The carabinieri have collected all the elements useful for reconstructing the exact dynamics of the accident, they have long heard from their son Efisio, the only witness of that terrible accident. He himself was carrying out some work on the land owned, with the excavator he was moving large boulders to build a fence wall .

According to what was reported to the carabinieri of the Ghilarza Company, the son would have asked his father to move and not to stay in the vicinity of the moving vehicle because it was quite dangerous . Then it is not clear what happened, presumably the bucket of the bulldozer hit Peppino Mele who ended up against a large boulder . Despite immediate help, there was nothing to be done for the elderly farmer.

Now we await the results of further tests, the autopsy will be carried out tomorrow. The magistrate will then have to verify whether there was any culpable conduct by the person driving the vehicle , then in the light of the results the picture can be better outlined. The hypothesis of the crime is manslaughter . The inspectors of the Spresal of the ASL have also started investigations and carried out an inspection of the land.
