A breakthrough has been reached in the investigation into the deaths of Luigi Gulisano, 79, and Maria Dessì, 82, who were found dead in their home on Via Ghibli in Cagliari on December 5.

The couple was not poisoned with sodium nitrite, as initially assumed. According to the experts appointed by investigating judge Ermengarda Ferrarese, one of the victims died of strangulation, the other of suffocation.

A hypothesis that will be presented and evaluated on September 11th.

The only suspect is the couple's youngest son, Claudio Gulisano , who has been in prison for eight months . The investigation continues, coordinated by prosecutor Rossana Allieri.
