The photo depicting an elderly Sardinian couple who saw the sea for the first time is popular on social media, and is continually shared again.

Antonietta Cambone , 83, convinced her husband Giuseppe Chessa , 90, to take a boat ride in the Gulf of Orosei. Both born and raised in Galtellì , they had never lived this experience and for the occasion they were accompanied by their grandson Giuseppe Chessa, who has a boat rental and wanted to be with his grandparents in their adventure.

"I had to make them wait before realizing their wish because I had to find a day in which the sea conditions were optimal given their age, but I couldn't wait to be able to please my grandmother who was the most impatient - explained the grandson -. The grandfather was actually a little reluctant even if at the end of the three hours of navigation his eyes were shining for the beautiful day passed. When I posted the photo on social media I expected it to meet with approval but not that it would go viral. Now we are enjoying this beautiful moment. "

The couple who became social media stars have been married for 60 years, they have eight children, 12 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren : "When I went to the pharmacy everyone complimented me for the photo on the boat and I thought: but it's possible that everyone knows where we went ? ", says Antonietta smiling and adds:" I wanted to get to know the coast and it was wonderful what I saw : we went to the Bue Marino Caves on the beach of Cala Luna and finally to Cala Sisine, dream landscapes. booked for the next trip because I would like to get to Arbatax ".

And he sends a message to his peers: "At our age, you can do anything with the will: to those of my age I say not to stop thinking they are too old. I cultivate the garden and I'm getting ready to sell sweets and the liqueurs that I pack at the White Night of Galtellì: I will bring 'Sa coffettura', the myrtle, the limoncello, the carob, but also the handcrafted objects that I made by hand such as the cell phone covers in fabric. sea where I still like to swim. Life - concludes grandmother Antonietta - is beautiful at all ages , never say it's too late ".
