A song for the Pope. Author don Francesco Marruncheddu, born in Oristano and parish priest of the hamlet of Campanedda (agricultural fraction of Nurra belonging to the municipality of Sassari), but also author and journalist of the Antoniano di Bologna.
Written together with Cardinal Lorenzo Baldisseri, general secretary emeritus of the Synod of Bishops, the song is called "Brothers all, if you want", music by Marcello Filotei, music teacher and journalist of the Roman Observatory.
The composition, which is inspired by Pope Bergoglio's "Social Encyclical", was presented yesterday morning in Rome in the large "Paul VI" hall of the Vatican, in the presence of the Pope himself, enthusiastic about the work.
The song was performed by the "Mariele Ventre" choir of the Antoniano di Bologna, directed by Sabrina Simoni. And yesterday morning in the Vatican was held the gathering of Italian choirs linked to the mythical choir of the Antoniano of Bologna, famous for decades to the public for being the protagonist of the Zecchino d'oro, a musical festival for children.
The Cardinal Archbishop of Bologna Matteo Zuppi also did the honors. "An incredible emotion to hear the song of which I am co-author in front of the Holy Father - says Fr Francesco Marruncheddu today on his return - Words and title more timely than ever, given the terrible moment we are living. But the joy was the magical atmosphere that we are experiencing. It was created inside the Vatican Hall. Very crowded and celebrating for the Pope. 3000 children from Antonian choirs from all over Italy, including hundreds of Sardinian Sardinian children. Coming from 5 choirs ".
The Sardinian choirs "Pentagramma" from Sinnai, "Piccolo coro" from San Sperate, "Pikku Peiko" from Selargius, "Sant'Antonio" from Ottana and "Padre Marco Fabbri" from Sassari participated in the audience.
After the audience, the children and their companions took part in the Angelus of Pope Francis in St. Peter's Square, who greeted them, recalling with joy the event just ended. "For all the children, including the Sardinians, it was a memorable day - concludes Don Francesco Marruncheddu -. They will carry around their whole life".
