" Never in my life have I been so at a loss for words in the face of this immense tragedy . A cruel and cynical fate has once again struck down a family already deeply shaken by painful events."

On the municipal administration's Facebook page, Mayor Michele Solinas expressed his condolences for Luigi Solinas , who died yesterday at the age of 41 in his home on Via Guido Rossa. He and his 82-year-old father, who was seriously injured, were repairing a wall damaged by last Sunday's heavy rains. The wall collapsed, engulfing both of them. Resuscitation efforts by 118 emergency responders were unsuccessful for the younger of the two. His elderly father was airlifted to the San Francesco hospital in Nuoro.

In January of this year, the Solinas family was shocked by another bereavement that was difficult to overcome : little Elena, just three years old, Luigi's daughter, died at the Gaslini hospital, where she had been admitted due to a fatal illness.

"Luigi was a loving father and husband, a hard worker, a man of strong principles, and a friend to all of us," added the mayor. "In this moment of great grief, on my own behalf, on behalf of the municipal administration, and the entire community of Bonese, expressing our shared sentiments, we join Alessandra, Gioele, our dear Angela, his father Giovanni, his brothers, sisters, and all his family. Goodbye, Luigi, now, together with your beloved Elena and Angelica, watch over and protect your family and our community. We will never forget you."
