The tide is turning on the alleged perpetrator of the serious road accident that occurred this afternoon at the entrance to Alghero, in which a 60-year-old husband and wife, residents of Sassari, were seriously injured .

Alghero local police located and recovered the Fiat Punto that was allegedly involved in the collision with the motorcycle the couple was riding. Officers then went to the vehicle's owner's home, but the man is currently unaccounted for .

It cannot be ruled out that he may still be inside the house, unresponsive to repeated attempts to contact him, or that he hasn't yet returned home . These are, however, hypotheses being examined by investigators.

The investigation continues unabated, and evidence gathered by local police suggests the driver's identification is imminent. Meanwhile, the two sixty-year-olds involved in the accident at the roundabout between Strada dei Due Mari, Maria Pia, and Via Burruni remain hospitalized in serious, but not life-threatening, condition.
