Another centenary in Florinas: tiu Battista Solothurn. A person known throughout the Sassari area (and beyond) as the head of a family of extraordinary winemakers, who made the history of the town of Coros and to whom tiu Battista taught the trade.

The mayor of Florinas, Enrico Lobino, last night brought the greetings of the whole community, which highly esteem this 100-year-old man who is still active, lucid and energetic, among other things, among the first to be vaccinated with conviction against Covid, going on their own legs and without any accompaniment to the vaccination point.

The mayor also donated a commemorative plaque to the celebrated, in the name of the Administration and of the entire population. At the small ceremony there was a lot of emotion, as Foriccu Soletta, 90 years old, brother of tiu Battista and father of the mayor of Thiesi Gianfranco Soletta, was also present and visibly moved. The two brothers, very close, are the only ones left alive with 8 children and in this pandemic they have seen very little.

"The two can't wait to celebrate the event worthily, with a good glass of wine with their children and all the grandchildren, once the pandemic is over," said Mayor Lobino.

In the town there are now 3 centenarians: in addition to tiu Battista, aunt Giovannina Fiori, who turned 100 on 23 December, and aunt Maria Francesca Gioia who will turn 104 in a few days, on 20 January.
