A technical inspection took stock of the situation of the safety measures and mitigation of the hydrogeological risk in Bitti , 20 months after the tragic flood that cost the lives of three people and that devastated the country.

The occasion is that of the 100th anniversary of the national association of reclamation consortia: the Consortium for central Sardinia is in fact engaged in Bitti where it has carried out most of the works, for an amount of about 1.5 million euros, commissioned by Civil protection on the 60 million allocated for reconstruction by the State and the Region.

"The first 20 million of the Government are engaged in works carried out or in the implementation phase - explained the mayor Giuseppe Ciccolini - these are interventions on the inhabited center to buffer the emergency. Another 20 million of the regional council for public works hopefully are released by 2023 for the risk mitigation works that would be decisive. There are also 26 million, of which 15 to be used on the NRP, to be spent and other resources related to compensation. My appeal now is that action be taken quickly structural that secure the country ".

"Out of five interventions that have been entrusted to us by the Civil Protection in the municipality of Bitti, we have completed three, one has been contracted out and another will be contracted out shortly - adds Ambrogio Guiso, president of the reclamation consortium - We have carried out making the existing canals safe so that they can withstand any flood events, but then it is necessary to study structural interventions on the four main canals of the country which will be decisive ". The commissioner for the emergency Antonio Belloi, general director of Civil Protection in Sardinia, was satisfied with the work completed so far, and also recalled the other bodies involved in the reconstruction, the Municipality of Bitti, the Province of Nuoro and Abbanoa. "The territory, however, needs more important interventions - he underlines - which will be carried out by the commissioner for hydrogeological instability and which we hope will start soon".
