The Regional Councilor for Health, Carlo Doria, carried out an inspection in the Emergency Department of the Antonio Segni hospital in Ozieri .
This was communicated by the mayor, Marco Peralta, who declared: « A real unannounced blitz . In the interlocution I had with him, in thanking him for the prompt activation and sensitivity shown to resolve the matter as soon as possible, in concert with the Director General of the Asl of Sassari, Dr. Flavio Sensi and the regional councilor Nico Mundula, the 'councillor confirmed to me that good news will arrive from the beginning of next week».
«However, I would like to clarify two other very important aspects concerning the Emergency Department - continues the mayor -. There is the possibility of better structuring the ward through a logistical review of the structure, to be adapted to a more general direct observation of the patients on site rather than placing them in single rooms. This would at the same time allow patients to be subjected to better supervision and doctors to perform their work in better working conditions". Secondly, continues Peralta, «the impossibility of replacing absent doctors with doctors from any other department, since the activity of the Emergency Department can only be carried out by doctors who are specialists in emergency medicine (or equivalent such as internists) or by postgraduates in the same discipline".
"Our administration immediately took action to restore the service and promptly received - on the same day of the events - adequate feedback from the highest institutional leaders, such as the competent regional councilor and general manager - concludes the mayor -. Now we expect the situation to normalize as soon as possible and that our Emergency Department will be 100% reactivated to provide care to patients, always ready to make our voice heard, to mobilize and involve the entire territory to defend our hospital."
