Sarroch: Woman falls into water tank, dead

She slipped into a rainwater collection tank and died. It happened this afternoon in Sarroch: the victim is Fiorenza Sanna, 84.

According to the reconstruction of the Carabinieri who responded to the scene, the elderly woman lost her balance while checking the water level in the cistern located in the courtyard of her property. "A sudden illness likely caused her to fall into the cistern, which is several meters deep," the force explained, "where the woman unfortunately drowned."

The alarm was raised by a daughter. Carabinieri officers from the Sarroch station responded to the scene, with the support of the Cagliari Company's Mobile Radio Unit and specialized personnel from the Investigative Unit's Survey Section. Firefighters, who recovered the elderly woman's body, and emergency services responded.
