The Prosecutor's Office, before the panel of judges of the Sassari Juvenile Court presided over by Guido Vecchione, requested 26 years and 10 months of prison for Emanuele Sircana, the twenty-one-year-old from Porto Torres, the sole defendant in the murder of Mario Sedda, his thirty-nine-year-old fellow citizen killed and tortured with kicks, punches, and stones on the night between March 29 and 30, 2021, in the gardens of Via Sassari, at the entrance to the city.

During the trial, which is underway with an immediate verdict , the defendant was also present in the courtroom, accused of voluntary homicide aggravated by torture and cruelty, and desecration of a corpse for having disfigured the body with chemical products.

Sircana, a minor at the time of the crimes, represented by attorney Alessandra Delrio, has always maintained his innocence, reiterating his previous claims in spontaneous statements given early in the trial and admitting to having been at the crime scene with Sedda and another person. He also admitted to having witnessed an argument between the victim and the other young man present, from whom he allegedly grabbed a knife and threw it away.
