A large fire broke out late this morning in the Siniscola countryside. The fire, driven by strong gusts of wind, spread fearfully, incinerating dozens of hectares of Mediterranean scrub and heavily damaging several farms and also burning a house.

About twenty people were evacuated from their homes . On site together with forestry officers and firefighters, there were also many local civil protection units who had to work for several hours to get under control of the flames. Two Canadianairs were also alerted.

An unequal struggle which however led to the containment of the fire which was eventually put out. «We ask the region to strengthen the fire prevention service apparatus», the mayor Gian Luigi Farris denounced. "There have been several fires in recent days, but there is a lack of adequate aircraft and means to deal with emergencies."
