The activities of the carabinieri of the Cites group of Cagliari are concentrated above all in the reed beds of the Molentargius pond, who have implemented the "Southern Sardinia" operation to guard the migratory routes of the avifauna in the south of the island.

Molentargius is one of the "hot spots" for poaching and for this reason it is included among the "Black Spots" of the National Action Plan for combating illegal acts against wild birds.

The contrast campaign in less than a week led to the identification of three people , already known as already surprised by the same facts in previous years, held responsible, among other things, for killing animals and receiving stolen goods.

135 dead starlings, three living Sardinian tortoises and three other living land tortoises were seized. All the material used by poachers was also recovered: diving suits, boots, jackets.
