Farewell to the historic pines in the internal avenue that leads to the emergency room of the Sirai hospital in Carbonia: they were majestic and above all shady (not a small feature when in summer the ambulances in line often have to stop for hours in front of the ward waiting for the shift) but the roots had almost completely dismantled the asphalt and made it difficult for the vehicles to transit. With further risks also for the health of the patients transported.

The workers commissioned by the local health authority have in fact removed the large central trees between today and yesterday and will soon eliminate the lateral ones as well. They had been planted 70 years ago. A roundabout should be built in the ambulance transit area but at the moment it is not taken for granted that other trees will be planted in place of the felled pines. They are essential on hot summer days to alleviate the inconvenience of patients, family members and medical personnel assigned to transport.
