Mourning in the world of healthcare in Cagliari: the doctor Giorgio Pia, historic head physician of the emergency room of the Santissima Trinità hospital in Cagliari, has died . He was 70 years old.
Even though he was able to retire, he continued his role in the Is Mirrionis hospital even during the dark period of Covid, directing the front line in the structure which had been transformed into a fort against the virus. He had only recently retired, but had continued teaching and had taken on a top position with the Patient Tribunal. Because at the top of his thoughts, by vocation, there were always them, the sick.
He had resisted some recent ailments, but was unable to overcome a serious respiratory disease, which forced him to be hospitalized in Is Mirrionis.
