The now-former mayor Pietro Pisu has returned to the premature fall of his second administration, following the resignations of nine city councilors—four from the majority and five from the opposition. The former mayor disputes the reasons for the split, asserts his commitment to the projects he has initiated, and officially announces his candidacy.

" Four councilors, led by the deputy mayor, have decided to pull the plug on the Administration that has achieved so much over the past four years by signing an agreement with the five members of the opposition. This irresponsible act has prevented the approval of a major budget amendment scheduled for next Tuesday ." The measure "provided for a significant reduction in the IMU property tax, investments in safety in the city center and the countryside, compensation for the merchants on Via Rosselli and Via Don Minzoni, as well as measures for families, combating illegal landfills, and finally, unblocking the completion of the Su Arbuzzeri and Su Gregori Redevelopment Plan, now nearing completion ."

"Evidently, they didn't like us completing all the strategic public works. These included: the Linear Park, the preschool on Via Tortolì, the sports facility on Sant'Isidoro, the nursery school on Via Verdi, the seniors' home on Via Don Minzoni, the roofing of the Olata Theater, and the adaptation of the Urban Development Plan (PUC) to the regional landscape plan ." Pisu also responded to his former allies: "The four majority councilors who resigned have never been interested in budgetary issues, urban planning, public works, or social policies. Governing a community doesn't just mean organizing shows and parties, but also having a concrete understanding of the administrative machinery." According to Pisu, the resignations are based on "personal, not political-administrative, reasons." He warns: " Those who prefer to be administered by a commissioner rather than contribute to a sound administration demonstrate that they don't have the community's best interests at heart ."

Regarding his political future, he officially comes out: "My greatest regret is not having been able to complete the last seven months of my mandate, a period in which we could have contributed so much to our country . Today, I am running for my third term in the next municipal elections. It's completely out of my control to run in the next regional elections." He explains that the possibility of a third term came with the law, and reiterates and rejects the accusation of a broken promise: "My fellow travelers, the majority councilors who remained until the end, asked me to continue this administrative project and run. The group decided that I should continue; it was right to give continuity to our work." Regarding those who resigned: " They have failed to meet the expectations of the group and the voters. I don't question the merits of other people's choices or what will happen in the next elections; I simply acknowledge what they have done ."
