300 people have been reported by the police , while the position of another 200 is being examined.
All foreign citizens who made false declarations to obtain the subsidy and sent the application to INPS through the Caf or Poste Italiane.
The suspects, who did not meet the requirements, unduly received the benefit starting from 2019. An average of 600 euros per month for a total of 8 million stolen from the state thanks to the presentation of false self-certifications.
They have falsely self-certified that they have a long-term residence permit or have resided in Italy for at least ten years . Instead it turned out that some came to Italy only to ask for income, then returned to their countries of origin with the post office credit card on which the money was loaded monthly.
The investigation was born eight months ago thanks to the Immigration Office of the Police Headquarters which, by evaluating the applications of those who applied for a residence permit, discovered that many were recipients of the subsidy.
The suspects come from different parts of the world: North Africa, sub-Saharan Africa, South America and the Balkan countries . Investigators are also examining the position of 200 foreigners residing in Cagliari, who have applied for a residence permit and receive citizenship income.
