" The town is overrun with stray cats , the situation is becoming unsustainable and many citizens are complaining because the felines in their yards are increasing day by day, with all the inconveniences that this entails." The mayor of Laconi, Salvatore Argiolas, denounced the incident .
Within a few days, the mayor also sent a memo to the Oristano Local Health Authority (ASL) asking how it should handle the infestation of animals. Argiolas also submitted a report prepared by the local police regarding the health and hygiene issues related to the presence of cat colonies in several neighborhoods of the town. Argiolas asked the Local Health Authority's Animal Health Department to evaluate specific interventions within its jurisdiction or to advise how the reported issue should be addressed.
"I remain, of course, available for any clarification," the statement reads. To date, however, the mayor has yet to receive a response. And the invasion continues . "In some courtyards," Argiolas concludes, " we've counted as many as thirty cats ."
