A flurry of checks – and sanctions – by the Forestry Corps on the Cagliari coast during the Ferragosto holiday .

Four fines were issued in Villasimius for illegally occupying beach umbrellas and beach equipment outside of permitted hours. Five fines were issued for other violations, including unauthorized construction on the beach, vehicle transit and parking on the shore, and other illegal occupations of state-owned property.

Nine violations were reported for illegal camping : eight on the Muravera coast and one in Santa Margherita di Pula, involving a tourist camper parked in an unauthorized area.

Eight violations were also reported for failure to comply with regional fire prevention regulations. Meanwhile, investigations continue to identify those responsible for the arson or negligence that caused environmental damage and endangered public safety.
